National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

March 10, 2015

Each year on March 10, AIDSVu recognizes National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day to help raise awareness and educate people about the impact of HIV on women and girls in the United States. Did you know that 1 in 4 people living with HIV are women? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, women also account for 1 in 5 new HIV diagnoses. It is critical to continue to educate our communities, prevent future HIV transmissions, and help connect women living with HIV to care and treatment.

This year, we have created a few graphics that you can use to help educate your families and friends. Please consider sharing these images on social media and using the hashtag #NWGHAAD to join the online conversation.

If you want to know more about how women and girls are impacted by HIV where you live, visit AIDSVu’s maps to take a closer look at your state or city. You can find a local HIV testing center by visiting AIDSVu.org/testing, and get connected to care services near you at AIDSVu.org/treatment.
