National HIV Testing Day 2015

June 19, 2015

Next week, AIDSVu will join more than 30 other organizations to encourage a discussion about HIV testing, treatment, and prevention in recognition of National HIV Testing Week, which culminates with National HIV Testing Day on June 27. While progress has been made in the fight against HIV, there were nearly 50,000 new HIV diagnoses in 2013, and one in seven people with HIV do not know they are infected. These figures underscore the importance of HIV testing, which the CDC recommends for all people between the ages of 13 and 64.

AIDSVu is proud to partner with National HIV Testing Week. If you would like to participate, register your testing event with the Urban Coalition for HIV/AIDS Prevention Services (UCHAPS) so that others in the community can easily find details. Register here: http://www.nhtwus.org/.

2015 NHTD Infographic (1)

The only way to know if you have HIV is through being tested. As we mark the 30th anniversary of the first HIV test, we are able to see how far testing has come – today, HIV tests are available in hospitals, doctors’ offices, clinics, and other community sites across the U.S. To find locations near you, visit our testing and care services locators. You can learn more about how HIV impacts your area by exploring our maps, and check back next week as we prepare to launch updated maps and resources and new site functionality.

AIDSVu has also created a special National HIV Testing Day infographic, which illustrates the impact of HIV in the U.S. today. View the full infographic here, and share on social media using the hashtag #NHTD.
