This World AIDS Day, It’s Time to Act

December 1, 2015

Each year on December 1, we recognize World AIDS Day as an opportunity to evaluate the HIV/AIDS epidemic worldwide and commit to action

Each year on December 1, we recognize World AIDS Day as an opportunity to evaluate the HIV/AIDS epidemic worldwide and commit to action for the year ahead. Across the globe, there are approximately 37 million people living with HIV/AIDS – and more than 1.2 million of those are in the U.S.

This year’s World AIDS Day theme is “The Time to Act is Now”: while we have made incredible strides made in the prevention, testing, and care of HIV, there were nearly 50,000 new HIV diagnoses in the U.S. in 2013.

This World AIDS Day, commit to action in the fight against HIV and get tested. In the U.S., one in eight people with HIV do not know they are infected – getting tested is the only way to know your status. Visit AIDSVu.org/Testing today to find a testing center near you, and explore our interactive maps to find out how HIV impacts your community.

You can also encourage others to join you in action this World AIDS Day by sharing the below infographic on social media using the hashtag #WAD2015.
