We Stand Together on World AIDS Day

Each year on December 1, we recognize World AIDS Day and stand in solidarity with the 37 million people worldwide who are living with HIV. World AIDS Day serves as an opportunity for us to reflect on the remarkable progress we’ve made in the fight against HIV, while recommitting our efforts to achieving our goal of an AIDS-free generation.

This year, the U.S. Government’s theme for World AIDS Day is “Leadership, Commitment, and Impact.” Ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic globally starts with us doing our part locally. There are still more than 1.2 million people in the U.S. living with HIV, and one in eight people living with HIV do not know they are infected. In 2014 alone, an estimated 44,000 Americans were newly diagnosed with HIV.

On this World AIDS Day, commit to taking action in the fight against HIV:

  • Share this AIDSVu graphic  on social media using the hashtag #WAD2016.
  • Visit AidsVu.org to find a local HIV testing site near you.
  • Explore AIDSVu’s interactive maps to learn more about how HIV impacts your community.
