Each year, we recognize the disparate impact of HIV on African Americans to raise awareness and share the most up to date information about a community that bears the highest burden of the epidemic in the United States.
As we continue to make progress in our fight against HIV, Black Americans still represent nearly half (44%) of all people living with HIV. Even more concerning – 47% of all new HIV diagnoses occur in African Americans.
We encourage you to get involved in the fight against HIV. There are a few ways you can participate this year:
- Get tested – The only way to know if you have HIV is to get tested. Find your local testing center.
- Educate others – Share this special infographic from AIDSVu to raise awareness of the impact of HIV on the African American community.
- Seek treatment – If you are living with HIV, AIDSVu has a care services locator to help you find the treatment you need.
