AIDSVu has released 2024 City data at the ZIP code-level, shining light on the impact of the HIV epidemic at the local level. This year’s data launch introduces data for San Jose, CA – as well as detailed maps and location profiles for 61 cities, which comprised over half of all new HIV diagnoses in the U.S. and Puerto Rico in 2024.
The updated city profiles depict:
- HIV prevalence (2024)
- New diagnoses (2020-2024)
- HIV Care Continuum indicators for some cities (2024)
- Key social determinants of health, such as poverty, education, income inequality, and housing cost burden (2024)
To highlight this year’s city-level data launch, AIDSVu has selected five cities to explore potential regional and demographic disparities. This year’s selected cities include San Jose, CA; Birmingham, AL; Columbus, OH; New York City, NY; and Washington, D.C. To explore HIV/AIDS data for these cities and more, check out AIDSVu’s updated location profiles.
AIDSVu’s newest city data visualizes HIV data in 24 of the 25 most populous cities in the U.S. in 2024, as well as 17 of the 20 Centers for AIDS Research (CFAR). Additionally, Washington, DC, state capitals like Boston, Austin, Raleigh, Nashville, and Denver, and large regional centers like Phoenix and Atlanta, all represented on AIDSVu, are key for both political organizing and policy advocacy. Together, these metros represent the majority of the U.S. congressional delegation’s home districts, making them critical for coalition outreach or national advocacy efforts.
